I've been ridding mountain bikes for about 20 years. After trying so many different brands out there I have concluded that GT is one of the bikes I like best. They have great suspension on rocky descents, as well in steep climbs. The bikes are very responsive in quick acceleration, and also great stability and handling in tight corners and high speed turns. They come in different sizes and colors, I definetely recommend this bikes for the beginner to the most advance rider.GT also comes with great components that last for long time. Once you become better rider you can update your suspension or other parts just to keep your bike always looking and handling great.
I recommend the GT TIMBERLINE 1.0 & GT DIAMONDBACK OVERDRIVE. These are great choices for a very affordable price of less than $600.Free Shipping on Orders over $150

Timberline 2013 GT 1.0
2013 GT Timberline 1.0 Mountain Bike - U.S. Exclusive. The GT Timberline 1.0 mountain bike is a terrific 29er with advanced technology meant to be ridden on or off the road with ease. Proven brands like Shimano and SR Suntour provide a solid foundation for each and every ride. 29ers are all the rage and for good reason. The benefits of larger wheels on mountain bikes are being reaped by beginners and experts alike. Larger wheels decrease your angle attack by allowing you to roll over obstacles both easier and faster
Performance Bicycles distributes these bikes, I've known them throughout the years in the Atlanta area. They provide excellent service and also some of their stuff are very much involved in the road and trail riding.
